Carol Pettersen

Carol Jean (Smith) Pettersen, of Madelia, MN was born on December 18, 1954 to parents Donald and Mary Smith. Carol grew up on a farm west of Madelia with her four sisters and was a graduate of Madelia High School. Carol was married to Les Tubby Pettersen on September 6, 1980, at Trinity Lutheran Church-Madelia. She worked alongside her husband for nine years in their business, Pettersen Ski-Doo, while raising their two children. She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, canning, camping and playing bingo. As a gifted quilter, Carol obtained recognition at the Clay County Fair for her handiwork. Carol also generously donated her quilts for breast cancer research. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, and she lovingly cared for her children and grandson regardless of her own needs or feelings. Carol died on Saturday, October 25th at the age of 59. Carol will be remembered for her artistry and creative talents, her kind and thoughtful ways and her dedication to her family and friends. Survivors include daughter, Brittany Pettersen of Mankato; son, Darren (Kyley Pearson) Pettersen and grandson Brantley Pettersen of Madelia; sisters, Patty (Doug Osborne) Peterson of Madelia, Sandy (Don Sebby) Johnson of Jackson, Janice (Steve) Fast of Butterfield, and Helen (Everard) Leacock of Grand Cayman; mother-in-law, Ethel Pettersen; brother-in-law, Jim (Myra) Pettersen; nieces and nephews, Tim and Donovan Clarke, Brian (Kristen) Krahmer, Matt (Sarah) Fast, Randy (Jeremy) Curry, Tina (Damian) Prescher, Misty (Travis Winters) Fast, Melanie (Ron) Hundt, Erik, Chase and Bianca (Niko Whittaker) Leacock, along with 14 great nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Les Tubby Pettersen in 2012; parents, Donald Smith and Mary Ahern, and father-in-law, Robert Pettersen.
