Carlyle Loggy Bruce Roberts was born on March 27, 1921 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Matthew and Arietta (Hansen) Roberts. He attended school in Sleepy Eye and was a lifelong member of the Congregational church until it closed and then joined the Methodist Church. Loggy was united in marriage to Arline Emily Snider on June 1, 1942. Arline passed away on September 21, 1965. He later married LaVonne Schumann on January 21, 1967. Loggy entered the Army/Air Force in 1941. He operated heavy equipment, building air strips, traveling to Sicily, Corsica, Africa, Italy and many other countries as the war progressed from place to place. When he returned from WWII in 1944, he resumed his work at Roberts Brothers Construction. For approximately 23 years he was part of a crew that would relocate to Spring Valley, MN every summer where they would haul corn and peas for Libby McNeal. Loggy dug the basements for many of the houses and buildings in Sleepy Eye, including the first addition to the Sleepy Eye Hospital. He worked for Roberts Brothers Construction for most of his life until it was sold to Gopher concrete from which he retired. Loggy was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Sleepy Eye for many years and held the position of master on several occasions. He enjoyed horses, fishing, doing leather work, making billfolds, purses and belts. He also enjoyed woodworking and made everything from night stands to potato bins and cribbage boards. His favorite pastimes were talking and spending time with family and friends, telling jokes and listening to the Minnesota Twins. During his later years, after retiring, he enjoyed going to Zarn Garage to discuss worldly events with the guys. He is survived by son, Lary (Vonnie) Roberts of Redwood Falls, daughter, Rosemary (Eugene) Junker of Redwood Falls, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Arline and LaVonne and an infant great grandson.
