Burnis H. Hase was born February 27, 1910, in Wall, SD. She was the middle child of Erik and Yette (Haugan) Gorseth. Her parents homesteaded in the Wall, SD area where Burnis graduated from Wall High School. Burnis attended a year of teacher training in Spearfish and then taught at North Star country school before her marriage to Edward W. Hase in 1931 in Minneapolis. Following marriage, Burnice worked at Honeywell for several years, then worked at Dayton's and McDonald's. After her children had grown, she was a missionary with the Muree Christian School in Muree, West Pakistan, working as a house mother for teenage girls. Burnis was a devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls and a member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed music, had a gift for numbers, and was an avid reader, card player, and board-game player, and was a loyal sports fan. Burnis H. Hase died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 95 years. Survivors include daughters- Jetta and husband Larry Feil of Denver, CO, and Carol W. Harder of Mountain Lake; sons- Joel Hase and wife Susan Savard of International Falls, and John and wife Cindy Hase of Browerville, MN; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law- Betty Hase of Myrtle Beach, SC; and sister-in-law- Yvonne Gorseth of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Edward in 1963; son- Norman in 1994; 1 sister; and 4 brothers.
