Brent Helling

Brent Helling, age 60, of St. James, died on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James. Brent Lauren Helling was born June 9, 1951, in Madelia, MN, the son of Julian and Jeanette (Bloomquist) Helling. Brent grew up on the family farm in the Hanska Lake area. He graduated from St. James High School in 1970. Brent worked as a laborer for several local companies during his working years. He enjoyed volunteer work for several service organization including putting up flags on Memorial Day. Brent was a member of the Eagles, Eagles Clown Club and the Sons of the American Legion. Brent enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding bike and spending time playing with his nieces and nephews. Brent is survived by his brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Helling of Hanska, Richard (Mary Ann) Helling of St. James, sister, Gloria Sandmeyer of St. James, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 2 brothers, LeDale and Marlin, and a brother-in-law, Paul Sandmeyer.
