Brenda Christine Kelly

Brenda Christine Kelly, age 67, of Madelia, died June 15, 2023, at her home.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia, on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia.

Brenda was born November 10, 1955 to Irvin and Mary (Sandborg) Larson in Madelia. She graduated from Madelia High School in 1974. On April 23, 1977, Brenda married Roger Kelly in Madelia. Together, they raised two boys, Christopher and John.  Brenda attended Mankato State University and completed her bachelor's degree in social work. For many years, she worked as a social worker at the schools in Fairmont and Butterfield.

Brenda lived in Madelia her entire life. She was a member of the CCW at St. Mary's Catholic Church and helped with the blood drive in Madelia. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school activities. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding motorcycles, and going on trips to the Colorado mountains.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 46 years, Roger; sons, Christopher Kelly of Madelia and John (Mariah) Kelly of Madelia; grandchildren, Eros, Wyatt, Madeline, Zander, Avaya, and Penelope; siblings, Joan Schlomann, Gary Freeman, Jim Larson and Steve (Char) Larson; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Arlo Kelly; brothers, Tom Larson and Jerry Larson; brother-in-law, Dennis Schloman; and sisters-in-law, Linda Freeman and Doranne Larson.
