Bonnie Bolin

Bonnie Mae (Bunnell) Bolin was born in Arlington, MN on March 10, 1924 to Earl and Ida (Klabunde) Bunnell. Her family moved to St. James when she was about two years old and she graduated from St. James High School in 1942. After graduating from St. Olaf College, she married Richard Bolin on May 7, 1948. They were blessed with four children: Susanne, Paul, Carol and Jane. Besides managing her home, Bonnie worked as circulation director in Watonwan County Library for 16 years. Bonnie was very active within First Lutheran Church as a member of the church council and the evangelism board, president of First Lutheran Church Women, and a Luther League Advisor. She's remembered for her love of singing and was a Senior Choir member for 60 years, the Emanuel Choir director and a part of a singing trio with Lorna Bolin and Marge Strommen. Bonnie was involved in the community of St. James through being on the concert association, American Cancer and hospital auxiliary boards, American Association of University Women, Tuesday Study Club, a food shelf volunteer and volunteering in many other area organizations. In addition to singing, Bonnie loved reading, traveling, playing games, wintering in AZ, doing crossword puzzles, and spending times with her family and friends. Bonnie Bolin died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Pleasantview Good Samaritan in St. James at the age of 94. She is survived by husband Richard, daughters Susanne Bolin of Chaska, Carol (Mark) Schneider of Norwood Young America, Jane (Keith) Anderson of Clinton, son Paul Bolin of St. James, grandchildren Eric Anderson of Minneapolis, Karin Anderson of Denver, CO, sisters-in-law Alice McEwen of Shoreview, JoAnn Hanson of White Bear Lake, Eldoris Bunnell of Belmond, Iowa, brother-in-law Duane McEwen of Shoreview and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
