Bonita Jensen

Bonita "Bonnie" Jensen, age 79 of Springfield died on Tuesday, April 08, 2008 at the Amery Regional Medical Center in Amery, WI. Bonnie was born January 16, 1929 to Otto and Margaret (Coulter) Bredvold in Springfield, MN and graduated from Springfield High School in 1946. Following graduation she attended Waldorf College in Forest City, IA and graduated in 1948. She then graduated from Mankato State Teacher's College in 1950 and taught in the Comfrey Public Schools from 1950 until 1956 and later at St. Raphael's Catholic School in Springfield. On June 10th, 1953, she married Gordon Jensen at Sundown Lutheran Church. They farmed in Sundown Township from 1958 until 1985. The couple moved to Riverview Homestead in 1994 and Bonnie became a resident at St. John's Home in 2008 and later moved to Golden Age Manor in Amery, WI. Bonnie was a lifetime member of Sundown Lutheran Church and was actively involved in the WELCA and various other church activities. Her love of children was evident in the pride she took as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. Bonnie was also a member of the Springfield Historical Society, the Gideon's Auxiliary, the Auxiliary of the American Legion, and the Sundown Ladies Home Extension. She was also a member of the Scarlet Chics (The Red Hat Society) in Springfield. She was an accomplished cook, singer, artist, and seamstress and loved to create meals and bake breads for all her dear friends at Riverview Homestead. Bonnie will always be remembered as a gracious hostess who always made sure you did not leave her home hungry. She is survived by two children, Julie and husband Robin Meyer of Amery, WI, Craig and wife Kathy Jensen of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren Mitchell Gordon Meyer and Belle Ann Meyer, Laura Margaret Jensen and Erik Jensen, Andy (Shawna) Devine, Rebecca (Glen) Seurer, and Kristin Devine and Jake Gottas; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Greta and her husband Warren Jensen of Springfield; sister-in-law Alva and her husband David Arnsdorf of Springfield; brother-in-law Ralph Steiner of Isanti, MN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 1997, her sister, Judi (Bredvold) Steiner in 2004, and her parents.
