Beverly was born March 17, 1931, in Mankato, Minnesota to Harry J. and Grace (Nelson) Currier. She graduated with honors from Mankato High School in 1949, and attended Gustavus Adolphus College and Mankato State University for one year each. She married William W. Huettl on July 14, 1951, in Mankato. St. James has been her home since 1961. Bev was a longtime secretary for the St. James Public Schools from 1966 to 1993. She previously belonged to Calvary Episcopal Church of St. James until it was deconsecrated. Since then, she had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, an officer of the Women's Association, Citizenship Club and a member of the Dorcas Circle. She was also actively involved as a volunteer with Friends of the Library, Watonwan County Historical Society, Wellspring, served as secretary of the Watonwan Cancer Society for several years, and served on the Health Care Board for St. James Health Services. Bev will long be remembered as an extremely giving person who donated her time and talents to many individuals and organizations. Her hobbies included reading, playing in multiple bridge clubs, and most of all, cooking. Beverly Jean Huettl passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James, she was 84. Mrs. Huettl is survived by her husband, William, two sons, Steven (Wanda) of Northfield, MN, and Kenneth of Rochester, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristi (Aaron) Johnson of Northfield, MN, Lauri (Jason) Smith of Minnetonka, MN, Lesli Huettl of Coon Rapids, MN, and Shanna Huettl from Rochester, MN. She also leaves behind three adorable great grandchildren Annika, Karina & Kameron Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert and sister Shirley, and a granddaughter, Kari Huettl. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Church of St. James. Blessed be the memory of Beverly.
