Betty Mitchell, 85, Madelia, MN died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia. Betty Lou Arduser was born on July 26, 1926 in Madelia, MN to Albert and Elizabeth (Munter) Arduser. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Madelia High School. In 1944 she married Roman (Fritz) Gappa. The couple lived and worked on a farm where Betty was a homemaker. They later divorced. She moved to town in 1970 and was employed with Tony Downs until she retired. She married Winston Mitchell and they later divorced. Betty especially enjoyed spending time with her family, flower garden, embroidery and sewing. She was an avid volunteer at the Luther Memorial Home, devoting many hours there. Betty is survived by her son Douglas (Linette) Gappa, of Madelia, daughters: Ramona Gappa Slocum, of Madelia and Raedell (Dale) Gappa Gersch, of Cambria, MN; daughter-in-law Karen Gappa, of Plymouth, Mass; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Ella Welp and Nada Lee and two sisters-in-law: Mary and Marilyn Arduser, all of Madelia. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Bradley, sister Della Hohenstein and brothers: Keneth and Lenard Arduser.
