Betty Klopp was born December 21, 1923, in St. James, MN to parents Chester and Elta (Morrow) Klopp. She grew up and graduated from St. James high school. On November 12, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Peter Christensen at the St. James United Methodist Church; the same church she was baptized and confirmed in. The couple made their home near St. James where they raised their children and farmed. Betty was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Betty was chairman of the Sister Kenny Hospital for Watonwan County, and a member of the organizing board for the food shelf where she helped distribute food for many years. She served as chairman of the Extension Home Council and worked with Hospice in the area. She served on various church groups. Some of Bettys favorite past times were flower gardening, baking and playing cards with friends and family. Betty had a wonderful sense of humor, and most of all she loved spending time with her husband Pete. Together they loved to travel. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Elta Klopp. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her beloved husband of 70 years, Peter Christensen of St. James; children Kathleen Buchanan of The Dells, OR, Kenneth (Judith) Christensen of St. James, Kurtis Christensen of St. James, and Keith (Shawna) Christensen of Maple Grove.
