Bernice Syverson

December 14, 1920 — January 18, 2015

Bernice Trebesch Syverson, 94, of New Ulm died January 18, 2015 at Oak Hills Living Center, New Ulm. Bernice Trebesch Syverson was born December 14, 1920 in New Ulm to Albert and Carrie (Gluth) Speckman of rural Sleepy Eye. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1938 and was employed at Snow's Hatchery until her marriage to Wilbert Trebesch on December 31, 1941. While actively engaged in all aspects of farm and home life with her husband, Bernice faithfully taught Sunday School for 3 year olds at Faith United Methodist Church for 16 years and centered her life on her family and church. She was always anxious to offer a helping hand to her family and loved traveling. After Wilbert's retirement, they began wintering in Arizona, which she continued after Wilbert's death in 1975, for a total of 38 years until 2008. In 1984 she married Ernest Syverson moving to New Ulm and enjoying their grandchildren, travel, and friends. Ernest passed away in 1987. Bernice's greatest joys were being with her family as well as helping and visiting others. She was a friend to all she met. Her smile, caring attitude, and steadfast love will be missed by all. Bernice is survived by her 3 children, Darlene (Howard) Lokensgard of Lafayette, Charlene (Tom) Weilage of New Ulm, and Dean (Patricia) Trebesch of Prescott, Arizona. Bernice's seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Craig (Wendy) Lokensgard; Lori (Brian) Dilley, Shane, Nolan and Cole; Mark (Kathryn) Weilage, Jack; Brian (Audra) Weilage, Bree; Amy (Joseph) Sharkey, Patrick and Anna; Derek and Jared Trebesch.
