Bernice Louise Freitag, age 90, of Mountain Lake, MN, died on August 30, 2025, at Windom Area Health Hospital, Windom, MN.

Visitation will be on Sunday, 7th of September, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Sturm Funeral Home - Mountain Lake and will continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church - Mountain Lake.

Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church - Mountain Lake on Monday, September 08, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

Interment will be at the Mountain Lake Cemetery.

Bernice Louise (Kirstein) Freitag was born on October 7, 1934, in Madison, SD, the daughter of Robert and Rachel (Rittel) Kirstein. She attended school until 9th grade in Wilder, MN. Bernice married Leroy Freitag on October 7, 1953, at First Baptist Church in Windom, MN.

Bernice worked as a waitress in Windom as well as in laundry and housekeeping at the Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Lake for almost 20 years. She was active in the Mountain Lake Auxiliary, a Sunday school teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church, served on alter guild and in the WA TAN YE Club when it was in Mountain Lake as a den mother. One of her favorite things to do was travel, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Bernice is survived by her children - Connie (Wayne) Robinson of Windom, Daniel (Kay) Freitag of Monticello, WI, Lorie Gallaher of Oak Ridge, TN, Susan Gohr of Mountain Lake, and Julie (Hugh) Mikkelson of Breckenridge, MN; many grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Carol Kirstein, Shirley Berdan, and brother-in-law, Virgil Freitag. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; son, Calvin Freitag; parents, Robert and Rachel; great-grandson, Braxton; siblings - Edna Samsel, Leonard Kirstein, Alvin Kirstein, Della Kopp, and Robert Kirstein.
