Benjamin Groebner

September 30, 1916 — January 19, 2005

Benjamin John Groebner was born on September 30, 1916 in Sigel Township, Brown County, MN, the son of George Mary (Krause) Groebner. After his schooling he worked for several area farmers and at the Loretta Hospital. He married Marion Tauer on April 25, 1946 at Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye where Ben worked at the Municipal Power Plant until 1979. Ben was Superintendent for seven years until his retirement. He was self employed as a handy man until the age of83. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid, VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed watching the MN Twins and Vikings, woodworking, coin collecting, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Marion of Prairie Senior Cottage in New Ulm, daughters, Patricia Sprow of New Ulm, Karen husband Butch Arndt of New Ulm, son, Michael Groebner of Shakopee, grandson, Shawn wife Robyn Sprow of Rochester, great granddaughter, Reese Sprow of Rochester and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, George, Arthur Artie, sisters, Elsie Groebner, Leona Stadick, Florence Groebner and Marie Isenberg.
