Beatrice Lubenow

Beatrice Emma St. John was born in Estherville, IA on February 21, 1920 to Rosa (Huntsinger) and Judson St. John. She was baptized on April 25, 1920 by Pastor G.W. LaGrone. Bea went to school at District #51 in Martin County and high school in Ceylon, MN. She was united in marriage to Alvin Ike Conrad Lubenow on November 2, 1938 in Estherville. They lived in Ceylon until 1944, and then moved to Butterfield, MN where Ike started his own business - Lubenow's Garage. In 1956 they took over the Phillips 66 gas station until they retired in 1973. Ike died on June 5, 1999. Bea then worked at Green Giant in St. James, Butterfield Foods and babysitting the family of Jane and Dick Downs. She loved to travel, to spend time with her families, her cat Goldie, dog Honey and crossword puzzles. Beatrice died on Sunday morning, April 12, 2009 at the Annandale Care Center in Annandale, MN, where she had moved to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ike; an infant daughter; a daughter, Carol Freitag; a son-in-law, roger Miller; a brother, Cecil St. John; a sister, Jessie Warling; a half sister, Fern Mack; two half brothers, William and Oren Perry; plus many sisters and brothers-in-law. Bea is survived by a daughter, Ronna Miller of South Haven, MN; a son-in-law, Virgil Freitag of Butterfield; grandchildren, Lyle Freitag and special friend, Ruth Ibarra of Butterfield, Ryan Freitag his wife Joy and their son Benton Jack of Glencoe, MN, Michael Miller of Moorhead, MN, Michelle Feeley and her husband Albert A. III of Farboro, NC, and Melissa Miller and her son Greyson of Ellensburg, WA; brothers, Keith St. John and Calvin St. John and his wife Cleann all of Fairmont, MN, and Larry St. John and his wife Connie of Cathedral City, CA; sister-in-law, Ethel St. John of New Hope, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
