Barbara Carol Sorenson

Barbara Carol (Stevensen) Sorenson, age 83, of Madelia, Minnesota, died on October 28, 2025, at Crystal Seasons Living Center in Lake Crystal, Minnesota.

Barb was born on December 8, 1941, in Madelia, Minnesota, to Jacob and Arlene (Jacobe) Stevensen. She attended Madelia High School, where she was honored as Homecoming Queen in 1958, and graduated in 1959. She went on to study nursing at the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota.

In 1962, Barb married the love of her life, James Bernard Sorenson. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage and raised five children - Caryn, Steven, Paul, Jennifer, and Debra - on their family farm in Madelia. For more than 20 years, Barbara and James enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona, but Madelia was always home.

Faith and family were always at the center of Barb's life. She was an active member of Presbyterian Women, taught Sunday School for many years, and served as a 4-H leader for nearly two decades. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her loved ones.

Barb will be deeply missed by her children, Caryn (Brian) Anderson of Madelia; Steven (Monica) Sorenson of Madelia; Paul Sorenson of Minneapolis; Jennifer Eager of Lewisville; Debra (Eric) Hanson of Lake City; her grandchildren: Megan Anderson, Noah Anderson, Dustin (Sarah) VanHale, Michael (Sydney) Sorenson, Andrea (Jaron Zwagerman) Sorenson, Katelyn (Blaine) Blanchard, Connor Sorenson, Dalton Eager, Brandon (Thejen Luoth) Eager, Ryan (Anna) Hanson, and Allison (Justin Pleshek) Hanson; her great-grandchildren: Jacob, Madison, and Levi VanHale, and Grayson Blanchard. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Stevensen and David (Mary) Stevensen, both of Madelia.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her parents, Jacob and Arlene Stevensen; her brothers, Ronald Stevensen and Duane Stevensen; and her son-in-law, John Eager.

Visitation will be held at Faith Lutheran Church - Madelia on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

Funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Madelia on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Penny Johnson will lead the services.

Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Madelia.
