Barbara K. Larsen

Barbara K. Larsen, age 100, of Sleepy Eye, MN passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Barb was born February 19, 1916 to John Sr. and Anna (Perosko) Kacsmar in Esterhazy Saskatchewan, Canada. Barb was one of 12 siblings raised on the family farm. She worked in Canada for 10 years at Swift Company and then immigrated to the United States 1954 where she met her husband, Elmer Larsen in Minneapolis. The couple was married in January of 1957 and moved to rural Sleepy Eye where they farmed. Barb enjoyed cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She loved trying new recipes and was known for her baked pies. Barb had a large garden, did a lot of canning and raised beautiful flowers. She was a member of the Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed making new friends. Barb enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Randy Larsen (Donna Sellner) of Sleepy Eye, daughter, Brenda (Bill) Tauer of Boise, Idaho, grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew, brother, Walter (Della) Kacsmar of Winnipeg, Canada and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer in 1990, brothers, John, Joe, Steve, Andrew, George, Jim, Henry, sisters, Anne, Margaret and Emily.
