Barbara Jean Johnson

Barbara Jean Johnson was born on July 22, 1939 the daughter of Jess and Edith (Wessendorf) Penoyer in Windom, MN. She graduated from Windom High School in 1957 and married Leland C. Johnson at the Methodist Church in Windom on June 2 that same year. Barbara was employed as a teachers aid for Storden Elementary school, sewed jackets at Fingerhut in Windom and worked as a dental aid for Dr. Wenberg, at the Country Pride Fertilizer, Cenex C Store, drove semi, and worked extensively on the dairy farm. Some of her favorite hobbies included knitting and crocheting, reading, camping as well as playing pool. Barbara also enjoyed woodcarving, Norwegian hardangers, stain glass and spending the winters in Apache Junction, AZ. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake. Barbara Johnson age 76, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota died on May 5, 2016, at her home in Mountain Lake. She is survived by her husband Leland of Mt. Lake, her children, Steve and his wife Marcia of St Joseph, MN, James and his wife Debra, Kevin and his wife Kathy, Cindy and husband Tom Quiring, and Julie and husband Larry Falk - all of Mt Lake; 15 grandchildren, Lisa and husband Jamie Becker, Mitchell Johnson and significant other Maria Lumawag, Brooke Johnson, Jessica and husband Jeremy Williams, Naomi and husband Derek Youngren, Jaclyn and husband Shawn Gossen, Spencer Johnson and wife Beth, Vincent Johnson, Jacob Johnson and wife Elizabeth, Megan and husband Ike Pohlman, Hannah and husband Thor Kurtz, Heath Quiring and fiancee Taylor Egeland, Hunter Quiring, Joshua Falk and wife Courtney, and Mikayla Falk and fiance Andrew Hempeck; 15 great-grandchildren, Linnea, Olivia, Gavin, and Chase Williams, Brielle, Braedon and Avery Becker, Natalie, Noelle and Boaz Youngren, Dallas, Colten and Emmitt Gossen, and Ava and Ella Kurtz. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, DeLyle Gohmann of Cambridge, Duane Hanson of Henning, Rex Petty of Butterfield, and Lester (Judi) Johnson of Worthington and sisters-in-law, Kathy Johnson and Darlene Kunkel both of Mt. Lake and Ardella (David) Nelson of Pequot Lakes. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, Albert and Linnea Johnson; sisters, Margaret Gohmann, Janet Hanson, and Sandra Petty; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Conrad) Sandberg; brothers-in-law, Verne Johnson, George (Clara) Johnson and August Kunkel.
