Barbara Farrell

There will be a Prayer Service Wednesday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home. The family would prefer memorials be made to the Divine Providence Pastoral Care Program, 700 3rd Ave. NW, Sleepy Eye, MN 56085 Barbara Theresa Meidl was born in New Ulm, MN, to Hugo E. Mary Ann (Saffert) Meidl on September 19, 1935. She attended and graduated from Holy Trinity Schools of New Ulm, and received a Bachelor's Degree in education from the State University in Mankato. Barbara was married, on September 20, 1954, to Jerome A. Pelzel of Sleepy Eye, MN, and gave birth to seven children. Following Jerome's death in 1980, Barbara married Craig Farrell in 1984. Barb was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She is survived by her husband, Craig Farrell of Sleepy Eye, children, Jane (Rick) Mages and Jim Pelzel, all of Sleepy Eye, Jack Pelzel of Buckeye, AZ, Joel Pelzel of Appleton, WI, Judy (Tom) Doyle of Rushford, MN and Joyce (Joe) Butler of Geneva, MN, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Walter Meidl of Albert Lea; Doris Saffert of Long Prairie; Lois Johnston of Cottage Grove, OR; Martin Meidl of Lamberton; Yvonne Windschitl and Lorraine Schroepfer both of Sleepy Eye; Catherine Arndt; Donna Windhorn; Paul Meidl and Ray J. Meidl, all of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Hugo, Jr., first husband, Jerome Pelzel and son, Jeff J. Pelzel.
