Arthur Seifert

A Parish Prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Arthur Hubert Seifert, the son of Henry R. and Emma (Hillesheim) Seifert was born on August 3, 1910, at Stewart, MN. He received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye, MN. On January 19, 1936, Arthur was united in marriage to Arleen Lange in Sleepy Eye, MN. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye, where Arthur worked at A.J. Pietrus and Son for 40 years until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He was an expert craftsman and made many wood items and pieces of furniture for family members. He was also a Mr. Fix-It and helped his children with many household repair and update projects. Arthur entered the Sleepy Eye Care Center in July of 2007, and this is where he died on Friday evening, August 24, 2007, at the age of 97 years. Arthur is survived by his wife Arleen Seifert of Sleepy Eye; four sons, Thomas Seifert and wife JoAnn of Sleepy Eye, Scott Seifert and wife Joyce of Apple Valley, MN, James Seifert and wife Rita of Savage, MN, and John Seifert and wife Darleen of Sleepy Eye; two daughters, Marilyn Mathiowetz and husband Donald of Springfield, MN, and Patsy Seifert of Sleepy Eye; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Seifert and wife Patricia of Sleepy Eye; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Bradley Scott Seifert and Juliann Joyce Seifert; three brothers, Ervin, Harvey and Sylvester Seifert; and three sisters, Luella Kelbs, Dolores Vickers and Violet Barsness.
