Arthur Rasmussen

The family would prefer memorials to St. Mary's School or the donors choice. Arthur Art Rasmussen was born on June 12, 1915 in Sleepy Eye, MN the son of Andrew Catherine (Baar) Rasmussen. He married Agnes Spaeth on November 29, 1939 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. After marriage they lived in Sleepy Eye for many years where Art was manager of the Stark Creamery and later the Stark-Sleepy Eye Creamery. In 1969 they moved to Lakeville, MN where Art worked for Menasha Corp. as a Boiler Engineer until he retired in 1987 and they moved to New Ulm. After Agnes preceded him in death he moved back to Sleepy Eye. Art was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a trustee for many years, he was also a 4th Degree KC member. While manager of the Stark Creamery Art was Champion State and County Butter Maker, an honor he was very proud to have received. Art enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and especially his many friends and family. Arthur Art Rasmussen, 92, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Survivors include his daughters, Carol Thompson of Big Lake, MN and Judy (Keith) Lange of Grand Rapids, MN, sons, Dick (Mag) of Marion, OH, and Don (Candy) of Brownton, MN, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Aggie Rasmussen, parents and brother, Harry.
