Arthur Gustav Kettner, Jr.

Arthur G. Kettner Jr. age 85, of Springfield, MN died on January 27, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 4 to 7 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Thursday from 10 until 11 am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Service will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Chaplain Noel Wetter. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery in Springfield.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Arthur Gustav Kettner, Jr. was born on May 21, 1938 the son of Art Sr. and Minnie (Colburn) Kettner in Springfield, MN. He attended and graduated from Springfield Public High School. After school he served in the US Army for 2 years as a driver and mechanic. When he returned to Springfield, he was employed at Weber Ford Dealership. Art later met and married the love of his life, Arlis Walton on March 22, 1997 in Fairmont. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, telling jokes, and meeting up with the crew at Fritz's for cards and coffee. He had strong work ethic and a deep love for farming. He could be found at Farmfest every summer as well as the Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA in the fall. In 2001, Art was recognized by Brown County Farm Bureau for being a fourth generation farmer. He was a member of the Springfield Elevator Board. If Art wasn't on the farm, you could find him at auctions or at Jackpot playing slot machines and cards. He also loved traveling and dancing with the love of his life, Arlis. His greatest joy was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Kettner; granddaughters, Kalie, Brooke and Tiffini Kettner; step children, Vikkie (Glen) Morford, Rhonda (Kevin) Ludewig, Scott (Lisa) Walton, Doug (Stacy) Walton; and 12 step grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife Arlis; and siblings, Lloyd and Virgina.
