Arnold Wall

March 18, 1923 — April 16, 2006

Arnold Clifford Wall was born on March 18, 1923, to Oscar and Helga (Linde) Wall in Swift County, near Pennock, MN. He attended school through the 8th grade in Pennock while living with his eldest sister Esther and her husband Walter Magnuson. Arnold was confirmed on October 14, 1923. In 1936 he stayed home in Comfrey, MN, and on May 9, 1937 he was confirmed in his Christian faith at Faith Lutheran Church in Comfrey. In 1940, Arnold went to work as a carpenter for his brother-in-law John Nagle in Morris, MN. At the age of 19 (winter of 1942), he was inducted into the U.S. Army. Arnold served in the European Theater in Patton's 3rd Army and received five battle stars. He was part of the first wave landing at Normandy. He returned home on December 3, 1945. On April 10, 1947, Arnold was united in marriage to Clara Evers at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. They farmed the Ed Wing farm north of Comfrey for 6 years. Arnie attended Vets Ag classes in Mountain Lake. In 1953, they purchased their farm in rural Mountain Lake, where they have resided ever since. Arnie loved farming and was honored as one of the top MN hog producers in 1953. Arnie and Clara were active 4-H leaders for many years. They helped their children with many 4-H and FFA projects. They retired from farming in 1976. Arnold loved the outdoors - fishing, hunting and ice fishing. They took many fishing trips with family, including 5 trips to Alaska. Arnie loved having his grandkids visit the farm. Arnold died at his rural Mountain Lake farm home on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006. Arnold is survived by his wife of 59 years Clara Wall of Mountain Lake; 2 sons, Robert and wife Marci Wall of Eagle River, AK, and Ronald and wife Nina of Dassel, MN; 2 daughters, LaDonna Olson of North Branch, MN, and Carol and husband Jerry Booth of Ramsey, MN; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Evers of Comfrey; a brother, Harold and wife Emma of Balaton, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and frineds. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sin-in-law, Ronald Olson; a grandson, Jonathan Olson; 4 brothers, Walter, Arthur, Irvin and Marvin Wall; and 3 sisters, Ada Olson, Esther Magnuson and Clara Nagle.
