Arnold Karschnik

Arnold H. Karschnik, age 78 of Mountain Lake, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Windom Area Hospital. Visitation is at Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake on Wednesday, June 13 2012 from 5 to 8 PM. Visitation resumes, at the church, one hour before the funeral. The Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 14 with Pastor Peter Kufahl officiating. Misty Karschnik will play the organ, accompanying the congregation in singing, How Great Thou Art, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, and Just As I Am Without One Plea. Casket bearers are: Jeff Karschnik, Brady Janzen, Brian Janzen, Tony Karschnik, Curt Janzen, and Andy Feil. The Honorary bearers are: Travis Karschnik, Ryan Rhodes, Trevor Rhodes, Gerald Karschnik, and Dorie Karschnik. Interment is at Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake, MN. The family wishes that memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. Arnold Herman Karschnik was born December 13, 1933 in Kimball Township, Jackson County to Albert and Alma (Gohr) Karschnik. He was baptized and confirmed at Kimball Lutheran Church, Alpha, MN. He attended school in Jackson County. He was married to Dolores Harries on October 4, 1953 and to this union three children were born. The marriage was later dissolved. On November 21, 1964 he was united in marriage to Mabel Westman. He was widowed on February 23, 1994. On May 8, 1999 he married Dorothy Syverson (Markquart). Arnold worked for area farmers and then for Bill Lohrenz Construction. In 1969, he was employed by Cottonwood County Highway Department as a road grader until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed watching the grandkids in sporting activities and driving in the country to check on the crops. He also enjoyed trading vehicles, which was like a hobby to him. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Karschnik, Mountain Lake, son, Allan (Michele) Karschnik of Windom, son, Arlan Karschnik of Arizona, daughter, Donna Karschnik of Texas, sister, Arlene Feil of Mountain Lake, and sister-in-law, Lucille Karschnik Bennett of Windom, five stepchildren, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
