Arliss Quiring

Arliss was born on the family farm in Highwater Township to Robert and Ethel (Erickson) Graff on January 10, 1935. She attended District #38 Country School and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1952. On March 21, 1954, Arliss married Donald Quiring at Highwater Lutheran Church. They farmed and raised a family south of Lamberton. Arliss held various jobs, including driving school bus for many years and writing the Highwater News for the Lamberton News. Arliss was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lamberton, the Red Hat Society, Highwater Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Highwater Kitchen Band. She was known for her community service and volunteer work. Arliss enjoyed music, baking buns, playing cards and games with family and friends, and doing crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arliss Ruth (Graff) Quiring, age 71 of Lamberton, MN, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at her home. Survivors include her four children- Vicki Quiring of New Ulm, Terry and Kim Quiring of Lamberton, Steve Quiring of New Ulm, and Brad Quiring of Lamberton; 4 grandchildren- Eric and Krissy Quiring of Minnetonka, Katie Quiring of St. Cloud, Sheila Quiring (Scott Niles) of Janesville, and Zachary Quiring of New Ulm; 2 great-grandchildren- Colton Niles and Joshua Quiring; 7 brothers and sisters- Shirley and Arlo Mattison of Lamberton, Robert and Joyce Graff of Lamberton, Roger and Bonnie Graff of Twin Falls, ID, Janice and Merle Coulter of Lamberton, Gary and Diane Graff of Lamberton, Bruce and Elona Graff of Minneapolis, and Richard and Joanne Graff of LeSueur; brother-in-law- Armin Kastner of Lamberton; sisters-in-law- Shirley Quering of California and Loretta Quiring of Lamberton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Quiring in 2001; granddaughter Sarah Quiring in 1994; and parents Robert and Ethel Graff.
