Arline June Reihs

Arline J. Reihs age 99, of Madelia, MN died on November 16, 2020, at Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia. A private graveside service will be held at Faith Lutheran Cemetery-Madelia, on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 1:30 pm. The clergy will be Rev. Karen Koeder. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Arline June (Koenecke) Reihs was born to Walter and Leta Fern (Boyington) Koenecke on May 9, 1921 in Madelia, MN. She was a graduate of the Madelia High School class of 1940. On November 1, 1941, she married August Robert Reihs. Arline worked for a short time at Ekhardt's dairy farm but spent most of her time raising her children and tending to the family home. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia, the Gardening Club, Faith Lutheran Quilting Club and volunteered with the Ladies Aid. Arline enjoyed gardening flowers; she also had fruit and vegetable gardens that supplied many quartz of canned goods. She always had a strawberry bed, from which she made lots of jam. Arline is survived by her son, Robert "Bob" Reihs (Vickie Splinter); daughter, Deanna Reihs; grandchildren, Cindy (Brian) Lehman, Todd (Stacy) Reihs, Kara Reihs; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Mathew Filip, August, Aidan and Aaron Reihs, and siblings, Burton (Ginger) Koenecke. She was preceded in death by her husband, August Reihs; parents, Walter and Fern Koenecke, and sisters, Lila, LaVonne, Margery and Betty.
