Arlene Louise Nerem passed away on February 26, 2025, at her home in rural Lamberton at age 97. She was born July 1, 1927, with her twin brother, Arnold, in Highwater Township, MN, to Mina(Everson) and William Halter. She was baptized and confirmed at the Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. On January 4, 1947, she married Raymond F. Nerem at the Sharon Lutheran Church Parsonage. They celebrated 78 years of marriage this year. Arlene and Ray farmed from 1947-1984 in Highwater and Ann Townships near Lamberton. Arlene was a devoted mother while helping Ray with his farming operation. They enjoyed 41 years of retirement on their farm. They took pleasure in maintaining their farm site, planting many varieties of trees, gardening, fishing, and Arlene accompanied Ray on some of his hunting trips to his hunting cabin near Two Harbors, MN. In retirement, she became an avid quilter and spent time participating in the quilting groups at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and The Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. She was an excellent cook who always made lutefisk, lefse, and several types of cookies for the Holidays.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Ray; daughters Joyce (Paul) Dawson and Linda Williams; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sharon and her husband James Tack, nine brothers and sisters, her parents in-law Carl and Ella Nerem, and her eight brothers and sisters in-law.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial may be made to The Old Westbrook Church.
Blessed be her memory.
