Arlene Dick

September 26, 1917 — February 11, 2005

Arlene Mildred Peters, the daughter of Cornelius and Katherine (Rempel) Peters was born on September 26, 1917, at Mountain Lake, MN. She received her education at the German Bible School and Mountain Lake Public Schools. Arlene was baptized upon confession of her faith at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, and this is where she remained a life long member. On December 7, 1943, Arlene was united in marriage to Jacob A. Dick at Bethel Mennonite Church. They served in CPS camp in MountPleasant, IA, where Arlene served at the mental hospital. After returning to Minnesota they made their home in Avoca and Odin before settling in Mountain Lake. Arlene was a loving wife and mother, and she helped Jake in his insurance business for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. She will be remembered for her volunteer work at the Care Share, and the over 2,000 rugs that she wove for the benefit of Mennonite Central Committee. Arlene died on Friday,February 11, 2005, at the Heritage Court in Windom, MN. Arlene is survived by her husband, Jacob A. Dick of Mountain Lake, MN; a daughter, Mary and her husband Martin Harder of Minneapolis, MN; two sons, Norman and his wife Rosalie Dick of Mountain Lake, MN and Marlin and his wife Mary Erin of Beaver, PA; eight grandchildren, Lori and her husband Mark Holmertz, Chad Harder, Kevin Dick, Rachel Dick, Peter Erin, Andrew Erin, Rohanna Erin and Noah Erin; a great grandson, Jaden Holmertz; a sister, Margaret and her husband Reiny Preheim of Mountain Lake, MN;many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
