Child of God Arlan Ray Beyer went to be with his Heavenly Father for all eternity on the morning of June 18th, 2015, in the loving presence of his wife, Ann. Arlan was born on March 29th, 1939 to Raymond and Ruth (Wichmann) Beyer in Springfield, Minnesota, and was raised with his sisters on the family farm near Sanborn, Minnesota. On July 23rd, 1967 Arlan married Ann Berg at Goose River Lutheran Church in Hatton, North Dakota. Arlan and Ann's children are Shelli (David Wilk) of Lake Elmo, Kurt (Heather Beyer) of Zimmerman, and Ronn (fiance Kendra Ott) of Sioux Falls. Their adoring grandchildren are Ava and Lydia Wilk, ages 15 and 11, country girls at heart who never missed an opportunity to spend time with Grama and Grampa on the farm. He is survived by his wife, children, granddaughters, sisters Lois Graff and Audrey Rieck, as well as brothers-in-law John Galstad and Dave Graff, and eight special nieces and nephews: Jana Rieck, Todd Rieck, Jeff Graff, Greg Graff, Kristin Graff, Kelli Blom, Eric Galstad, and Jennifer Knoebel. Arlan is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Carol Beyer and Janice Galstad, and brother-in-law Dennis Rieck. After attending Charleston Township District 16 and Zion Lutheran School, Arlan graduated from Sanborn Public High School in 1957 with classmates who were also wonderful friends all these years. Arlan served in the Army Reserve. Arlan farmed in Charleston Township one mile from the farm where he grew up. Tied to the land and deeply rooted in his community, Arlan served for many years as Clerk of Charleston Township and Chairman of Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, where he was an active, lifelong member. He enjoyed volunteering as an election judge, serving on the Sanborn Watermelon Days Parade Committee, bowling with his league at Springfield Lanes, and many years of business with Asgrow and Dekalb seed sales. One of Arlan's greatest joys in life was socializing with neighbors, family, and friends in these ways or simply over the phone. Recent friendships were as valuable as his many lifelong friendships. Arlan's family wishes to thank his caregivers and medical providers over recent years, including Johanna Shores care center in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Arlan's family is grateful for many friends, family, and clergy who supported him all of his life in so many giving ways. Arlan looks forward to seeing you again someday.
