Ardith Melcher

Ardith LaJean Groninger was born September 3, 1919 in Pierce County, NE, to parents Fred and Ruth (Miller) Groninger. She grew up in the Pierce City and Norfolk area. She married Norman Melcher in 1941 at Norfolk. She lived in West Chester, PA for several years while Norman served in the military. The couple made their home in St. James follow the war. Ardith worked at Tony Downs for a few years before going to work at the hospital as a nurses aid. She worked there for many years. She was active with the Railroad Auxillary and enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Donald, daughter Joyce, parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Ron (Dawn) Melcher of Hugo, sister Doris Ferris of Norfolk, NE, brothers Robert (Shirley) Groninger of Norfolk, NE, William (Joey) Groninger of Wisner, NE, Gerald Joe Groninger of Alpha, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law Liz Mather of CA.
