She was born Ardelle Mavis Loof on January 2, 1932, the daughter of Joe and Gertrude (Johnson) Loof. She was brought home from the hospital by horse-drawn wagon due to snow-covered country roads (and surprisingly was not the first baby born in Bethel Hospital in Mountain Lake that year). She was baptized as a baby in the former Christian Reformed Church in rural Mountain Lake. She attended District #47 country school in Selma Township for grades 1-8 and graduated from Mountain Lake Public High School in 1949. On February 26, 1951, she married Gordon Gordie Neufeld in the first First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. They made Mountain Lake their home for their entire lives - strongly supporting ALL activities of the orange-and-black Lakers and later the maroon-and-silver Wolverines. Throughout her lifetime, Ardelle was employed by Cottonwood County in the courthouse, Mountain Lake Public Library as a library assistant, Mountain Lake Public School in various capacities including noon aide and high school secretary, Mountain Lake Area Chamber of Commerce as secretary and as a nursing assistant by The Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Lake-The Village. She also cared for her two grandchildren. In 1989, they transferred their church membership to the First Presbyterian Church. She was a 68-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Mark Langland of Mountain Lake; grandson, Jon Langland of North Mankato; granddaughter and her husband, Jill and Michael Kvanli of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Vera Lentsch, of St. James; great-grand(dog)ters Baby and Switcher and cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Gordie, on February 1, 1990; parents; grandson, James Michael Langland; granddaughter, Jayne Katherine Langland; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Mona Loof and brother-in-law, Richard Dick Lentsch.
