Ardella Aspelund

Ardella Jean Bjorklund was born December 12, 1934 to Edmund and Anna (Larson) Bjorklund on her parents farm in Nicollet County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church near Norseland, MN. She attended grades 1-8 at District #6 in Nicollet County. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1952. Ardella worked at the Red Owl in Mankato until 1959 when she married Ivan Roland Aspelund at the Scandian Lutheran Church. They made their home on the family farm near Godahl. Ivan passed away in 2002. Ardella enjoyed family gatherings, going on trips with her husband, feeding and watching birds, reading, puzzles, watching the Minnesota Twins and her cat, Amy. She was a member of Albion Lutheran Church. Ardella Aspelund, age 73, of rural St. James, died on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the St. James Medical Center in St. James. She is survived by her son Ronald of Hanska, daughters Kim (Kevin) Petterson of Brandon, SD, Patti (Lorin) Nommensen of St. James, grandchildren Matthew Petterson, Stacy Redmond, Michelle Aspelund, Tommy Aspelund and Miranda Nommensen, sisters Louise (Harold) Rodning of Nicollet, Eunice (Jerry) Hildebrandt of Ham Lake, brothers Willard (Marilyn) Bjorklund of St. Peter, Harold (Donna) Bjorklund of Lolo, MT, and Gordon Bjorklund of Gaylord.
