Anthony Groebner

Memorials are preferred to family wishes or Donor's choice. Anthony Edward Groebner was born on December 17, 1918, the son of John and Emilia (Rothmeier) Groebner. He attended country school in Sundown Township and graduated from Wabasso High School. He entered and served with the U.S. Army Armored Infantry in Italy and Northern Africa until October of 1944 when he was injured and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for heroic and meritorious service. He was discharged in April of 1946 after spending 18 months in military hospitals. He returned home to the family farm south of Clements and lived there until his death. Tony was united in marriage to Teresa on February 24, 1962 in Wabasso, MN. He enjoyed old time music, reading, farming, and spending time with his family. Tony Groebner died on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 90 years. He is survived by his wife - Teresa Groebner of Clements; children - Carl (Phyllis) Groebner, Steve Groebner, Ann (Darren) Peschges, Greg Groebner, JoAnne (Dave) Callens, and Kathleen (Troy) DeSmet; 23 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters - Eldora Kramer of Eagan and Adeline Nelson of Clements. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings - Florence, Veronica, Alphonsus, Leo, Henry, Lucy, and Irene. May he rest in peace.
