Annie Johnson

Annie Elizabeth Johnson, the daughter of Henry H. and Katie (Dick) Kroeker was born on March 19, 1913, in Midway Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. In 1920, when she was seven years old, she moved to a farm in Butterfield Township, where she was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Butterfield, and received her education in a country school near her home. She graduated from Butterfield High School and continued her education at Minnesota State University, where she received her teaching degree. Annie taught elementary school with the Odin Public School System for three years. On July 1, 1944, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Johnson at the parsonage of the Swedish Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. The couple made their home with Don's parents for one year before moving to Winthrop. They later moved to Butterfield, MN, where they farmed and operated Kroeker's Nursery. In 1985, they retired and moved into Butterfield. Annie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. James, MN. She had great knowledge in the area of horticulture, enjoyed woodworking, and reading. Annie entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, MN on October 2, 2002, and this is where she died on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at the age of ninety-two years, two months and twenty-six days. Annie is survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald on January 3, 1998, and her parents, Henry and Kate Kroeker.
