Anna Marie Ringen was born on October 20, 1927, in Butterfield, Watonwan County, Minnesota to parents, Sam and Mabel Olivia (Iverson) Braaten. She was one of 7 children. When she was 7 years old her mother died during childbirth and her father passed away when she was 13, leaving Anna to raise herself and siblings. She was a high school graduate and was proud of that accomplishment given the circumstances. Anna married Dale Ringen on December 21, 1945 and they were blessed with 4 children. Together she and Dale farmed beginning in 1949, eventually moving to their current farm place in 1964. After Dale returned from the military, they owned and operated a restaurant in Butterfield for a short time. Anna had a passion for her faith and family above all else. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Butterfield. In her spare time, Anna enjoyed embroidery, quilting, gardening, cooking and volunteering at the nursing home. She always had a friendly smile and infectious laugh that everyone will miss.
Anna is survived by her sons, Gary (Jackie) Ringen of North Mankato, David (Marlene) Ringen of St. James and Steve (Nancy) Ringen of Butterfield; daughter, Cheryl (Wayne) Wolle of Welcome; 9 grandchildren, Cindy Ringen, Gina (Clay) Sanders, Renae Ringen, Chad (Christine) Ringen, Ryan (Sara) Ringen, Nicole (Bernie) Barrie, Brianna Ringen, Jessi (Dave) Gjerstad and Dan (Nikki) Hector; 16 great-grandchildren, Gage, Court, Chase and Claire Sanders, Madeline and Owen Ringen, Beck, Hutch, and Sully Barrie, Callie, Sophie and Everly Ringen, Katie Currier (Fiancé Dustin Hagen), Casey Currier, Brandon and Megan Hector; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Waylon and Loretta Tierney and Erik Hagen; sister Mabel Olson of St. James, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
