Anna Johanek

September 12, 1918 — October 13, 2014

Anna Irene (Zahorsky) Johanek was born on Sept 12, 1918 in Lakefield, MN to Michael and Antonia (Soukup) Zahorshy. She never missed a day of school throughout her years of attendance. She grew up on the family farm helping with chores, herding cattle and taking care of her younger sisters. It was never dull with six sisters who unfortunately lost their mother at the young age of 43. Anna met and began dating Stanley William Johanek. They married Feb 22, 1938. They farmed North of Jackson until 1947, when they purchased a farm South of Mt. Lake. They made a great farm team, also raising many cattle, cage chickens, ducks, and geese. Together they enjoyed playing cards, traveling on plane and bus trips, and entertaining at their cabin on Fish Lake. Anna enjoyed belonging to the Red Hatters, was an awesome seamstress, baker, cook, and gardener, with a real green thumb; her garden and flowers were her passion. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church. Survived by a daughter Pat (Larry) Boots of Worthington MN, grandsons, Lonny (Nancy) Johnson of Worthington MN and Lane (Kathy) Johnson of Eden Prairie MN, grandgaughter Lisa (Dan) Wermuth of Mesa AZ, step-grandson Todd (Janelle) Boots of Tea SD, great-grandchildren Carly, Patrick, and Annabelle Johnson, Aaron, Alyssa, Alexa, Ashlyn, Ambria, Abel, and Abigail Wermuth. Step-great-grandchildren Anthony Wolf, Haeli Wolf, and Allison Boots, great-great-grandsons Kayden Johnson, Kasen Johnson, and Jaxon Nienkerk, sisters Bernadine Hennings of Lake Wilson MN, Cecilia Domino of Mesa AZ, and Loretta Domino of Coon Rapids MN. Many nieces and nephews, 3 God daughters, and a lot of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley in 2002, her sisters Agnes Zahorksy, Mary Zahradnik, Margaret Zahradnik, and Maxine Schaffer. May your flowers bloom on forever.
