Anna Gnekow

Weather related service date time change. Anna was born December 19, 1908 to Conrad Steege and Mary (Meyer) Steege. She attended school through 8th grade and left to help her father on their farm. On January 22, 1942 she married Clifton Gnekow. They raised turkeys together on their farm southeast of St. James unitl her husband died in 1965. She began working at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home in St. James. In 1977 she moved into St. James where she lived until age 90. Anna lived for a year with her daughter, a year with her son and spent six years in Burnsville at Emerald Crest Assisted Living. Her last three years were spent at Martin Luther Center in Bloomington. She passed away quietly February 5, 2010 at the age of 101 years. Anna loved her family, her friends, her neighbors and her Lord. She was active member of the St. James United Methodist Church, loved to cook and bake, loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed homemaking and giving to people. Anna was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, and brother. She is survived by her son Robert (Teresa) Gnekow of Lafayette, MN, daughters Marilyn Gnekow of Burnsville, and Dorothy (Bill) Murray of Burbank, CA. Other survivors are Misty (Drew) Cook of Sleepy Eye, Teresa Long of Sparks, NV, Andrea and Hannah Dunivant of Reno, NV.
