Anna Bertrand

There will be a parish prayer service Tuesday at 6pm at the funeral home. Anna Emma was born on the farm in Sleepy Eye on June 24, 1909 to Ernest Anna (Muske) Hoppe. Ann attended country school near the Hoppe farm. Ann was married to William Bertrand March 3, 1930. They had one son and three daughters. Eventually Bill and Ann bought the Hoppe farm where they raised their four children. They were members of the Japanese Martyrs Church in Leavenworth. They joined St. Mary's Church in Sleepy Eye where they were long time members. Ann was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Aid Association. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. Some of her favorite hobbies were gardening, ceramics and baking. She was a great mentor for children. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Fred) Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Bernice Schneider of White Bear Lake, Sandra (Dave) Runing of White Bear Lake and daughter-in-law, Marion Bertrand of Sleepy Eye, 16 grandchildren, Bob Bertrand, Deborah Heiderscheidt, Denise (James) Tauer, Bill Bertrand, Brad (Liz) Tauer, Doug (Rhonda) Tauer, Kathy (Larry) Steffl, Jim Tauer special friend, Darla, Lisa (Merlin) Wahl, Mark (Diane) Schneider, Sue (Dave) Nechrebeck, Cindy (Jim) Schneider, Kevin (Chris) Schneider, Sharon (Kirk) Ellertson, Kelly (Marsha) Runing and Kim (Rich) Boyd, 34 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, son, Robert Bertrand, son-in-law, Jerome Schneider, brother, Albert Hoppe, sisters, Erna Madsen, Lena Tessmer and Lydia Brey.
