Anita L. Falk

November 14, 1938 — December 3, 2021

Anita Louise (Amstutz) Falk was born in West Point, Nebraska on November 14, 1938, to Francis and Edith Amstutz. At a young age she accepted Jesus as her Savior and upon confession of her faith was baptized at Salem Mennonite Church in Wisner, Nebraska by Reverend Arnold Nickel. Anita attended school in Wisner, Nebraska until grade 11 in 1954. The family then moved to Mountain Lake, Minnesota where she graduated from Mountain Lake High School as Salutatorian in 1956. She attended Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio. At college she was a member of the ladies Gospel Team as their pianist traveling and singing around the area. During her college years she met DuWayne D. Falk of Mountain Lake. Anita and DuWayne were married at Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake on June 14, 1959. They lived on various farm sites before finally settling on the Falk Family Farm northeast of Mountain Lake in 1972. They were blessed with four children: Sherri, Linda, Larry, and Bryan. During the summer of her college years and the first few years of marriage Anita worked as a teller and secretary to Bill Schroeder at the Farmers State Bank of Mountain Lake. Anita was involved with her church, Bethel Mennonite, where she was an organist, pianist, and member of the bell choir. She enjoyed working in the church library and was a part of the Worship and Sew, along with serving on the refreshment committee. Anita belonged to the Midway Homemakers and was a 4-H leader for many years. She loved sewing which was evident in the quilts she made for her family and MCC. She enjoyed volunteering at the Care and Share, working at the Mennonite House and Train Depot at the Threshing Bee. Anita loved to cook and bake, and many people were the recipients of her delicious goodies. On the family farm she worked alongside DuWayne and they made quite a team, whether they were raising cattle for 20 years, running their seed business of 25 plus years, and then transitioning to raising broiler chickens which kept them busy until November 2019. Anita will be remembered for her musical talents, her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her generous giving of her time and service to others. Anita Falk age 83, of Mountain Lake, MN, died on December 3, 2021, at Good Samaritan Lodge in Mountain Lake. Anita is preceeded in death by her parents Francis H. and Edith (Luginbihl) Amstutz, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Doris Falk. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, DuWayne D.
