Amos was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church where he was an active life-long member. Amos attended school at District 43 in Nelson Township. He worked as a hired hand for neighboring farmers until he entered the military where he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in Pusan, Korea from 1952 to 1954. He served as a military guard and ran a fuel depot. When his father died he took over the family farming operation and lived on the family farmstead until this year.
Amos will be remembered as a caretaker of the Albion cemetery, a weather watcher for the National Weather Service, and a familiar face at the Nelson Albin's Godahl Store. He was honored in 1994 as a recipient of the Plaindealer's Warm Heart Award for being a good neighbor to those in the Godahl area. Amos took great joy in caring for a variety of animals but was most proud of his herd of registered Charolais cattle.
