Amanda Amalia Rickert, the daughter of Karl and Katherina (Balzer) Rickert was born on May 27, 1923, on the family farm in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm NW of Mountain Lake, MN, where she received her education at District 80 E Country School. Amanda was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, where she remained a life long member. She worked on the farm and later at Butterfield Foods and the Manor Inn.Amanda moved from the farm into Mountain Lake in the fall of 1984. She enjoyed walking and embroidery work. Amanda became a resident of the Eventide Nursing Home in January of 1997, and she moved to the Good Samaritan Village in June of 1999. Amanda is survived by three sisters, Katherine Rickert of Mountain Lake, MN, Emma and her husband Neil Norland of Windom, MN, and Esther Janzen of Mountain Lake, MN; a brother, Harold Rickert of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Deloris Rickert of Mountain Lake, MN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anne Hoppe and Minnie Olson; and four brothers, Walter, Henry, Fred and Carl Pete.
