Alyce Lorraine Schumacher was born on June 15, 1926 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Hartneck) Krzmarzick. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1944. She worked at Ries-Jensen Insurance Agency in Sleepy Eye. She was united in marriage to Gerald Schumacher on June 15, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, MN. The couple farmed in Leavenworth Township until 1960 when they moved to a farm in Adrian Township. In 1981 they moved into Comfrey. Alyce enjoyed working with ceramics and taught classes and participated in Craft Shows. She also enjoyed sewing, attending auctions, going to Draft Horse shows, socializing with friends, traveling, and spending time with family. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey and participated with the CCW. Alyce died on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her children - Marlene (Clay) Engman of Pine City, MN, Karen (Ron) Kauffmann of Babbitt, MN, Loren (Gean) Schumacher of Comfrey, Lyle (Meri) Schumacher of Comfrey, Diane (Frank) Samlaska of Eagle Lake, MN, and Susan (Dan) Alleven of Good Thunder, MN; 11 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and a brother - Linus Krzmarzick. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Gerald in 2005; sisters - Martha Moldan, Agnes Kessler, Irene Utz, and Gladys Hoffmann; and a brother - Sylvester; and a brother and sister in infancy.
