Alvina Trapp

December 20, 1914 — January 25, 2013

Alvina Margaret Trapp was born on December 20, 1914, in Finlayson, MN, the daughter of William and Anna (Petry) Dewitz. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Minneapolis where she attended school. In the early 1930's, she moved to a farm in Charleston Township near Sanborn. In her early 20's, she moved back to Minneapolis where she worked as a housekeeper. She was united in marriage to Ernest Trapp on March 5, 1938 at the Trapp farm. The couple farmed near Milroy before purchasing the Trapp family farm in 1948. Alvina was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sanborn Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Aid, Home Extension Club, and served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed golfing, handwork, flowers, gardening, helping with field work, and time with family. Alvina died on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Valley View Care Center in Lamberton at the age of 98 years. She is survived by her children - Tom and wife Darlene Trapp of Sanborn and Ernest Jr. and wife Bette Trapp of Lamberton; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Ernest in June of 2008; a son - Robert; a grandchild; siblings - Louise Solie and Ruth Erlandson.
