Alvina Schroeder was born on January 18, 1913 in Freeman South Dakota, to Peter and Susie (Becker) Schroeder. She attended country school and graduated from the 8th grade. She became a seamstress at an early age and kept her brothers and sisters well clothed. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a youth and was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Mt. Lake, MN for most of her life. Her work years included working as a cook at the Eventide in Mt. Lake, and Grace Bible College in Omaha, NE. She also spent a year in Juneau, Alaska helping the P.J. Nickel family. Alvina spent much of her time caring for her younger siblings as well as many nieces and nephews. She never married. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and baking. Everyone loved her zwiebach! She was a great influence and joy to her whole family and those she worked with. All who knew her loved her. Even though she never had children of her own, she was mother and grandmother to many. We are blessed to have had her in our life and eagerly look forward to a reunion in heaven. She is survived by her sister Leona Nickel of Andover, MN and her brother, Dennis (Margaret) Schroeder of Mound, MN and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father Peter W, her mother Susie, her brothers, Jacob, William, Peter, David, infant brother Sylvester, Leander, Ervin, and Harley, and her sisters, Linda, Elsa, and Delphe.
