Dr. Alvin L. Wiens age 91, of Mountain Lake, MN, died on November 4, 2022, at Good Samaritan Lodge, Mountain Lake.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Community Bible Church-Mt Lake.
Service will be held at the Community Bible Church-Mt Lake, on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 am.
The clergy will be Rev. Dan Strutz. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery.

Alvin was born on January 16, 1931 in Mt. Lake, MN and grew up on the family farm near Bingham Lake, MN. He was baptized on confession of his faith at age 12 by the Carson and Mt. Lake Mennonite Brethren Churches. He graduated from Mt. Lake High School in 1949 and attended Tabor College in Hillsboro KS, graduating in 1953. It was there that he met his wife, Rosetta Funk. They were married on August 13, 1954. Alvin received his master’s degree from the University of Kansas and then went to the University of Minnesota Medical School, graduating in 1959. Dr. Wiens completed a medical internship in Duluth and performed service to his country as a physician for inmates at the federal prison in Sandstone, MN. He practiced medicine in Mt. Lake for more than 35 years, including delivering over 1000 babies between 1962 and 1987. He also did short term medical mission work in Kenya and Taiwan with World Medical Mission. He retired in 2000 and enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, fishing and golfing. Throughout his time in Mt. Lake, he was an active member of the Mennonite Brethren Church, later named Community Bible Church, and participated in Rotary Club and other community activities. He passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Mt. Lake after a brief illness from pancreatic cancer.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 4 years, Elsie; siblings Harry, Donald (Dorothy), Luella (Peter) Enns, and Ray (Angie); children Douglas (Debbie), Roger (Gwen), and Lisa (Jeff) Weiberg; grandchildren Andrew, Julia (Chris), Carson (Rachel), Isaac, Micah, Anika and Caleb. He was preceded in death by parents, Claus and Anna Wiens, and his wife of 59 years, Rose.
