Alvin Jones

December 18, 1922 — March 11, 2006

Alvin Henry Jones, the son of Fredrick and Mable (Shirkey) Jones was born on December 18, 1922, in Nobles County, MN. He received his education at Nobles County Country School. From September 1942 to 1945, Alvin served with the U.S. 3rd Airforce during WW II. Following his honorable discharge, Alvin returned to Worthington, where he received a degree in Agriculture from the Worthington College. On November 17, 1950, Alvin married Ruth Anne Gohr of Mountain Lake, MN at Sioux Falls, SD. Togetherthey farmed in southwest MN. Alvin was also a truck driver for many years. They moved to Mountain Lake in 1990 and were members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Alvin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Alvin died on Saturday morning, March 11, 2006, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Alvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Jones of Mountain Lake, MN; two sons, Allen Jones and his wife Sandy Kracht of Wisconsin Dells, WI, and Lyle and his wife Lynette Jones of Mankato, MN; a daughter, Arla and her husband Col. Michael Klepczyk of Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren, Kristen Jones and her fiance Brandon Brustad, Nicole, Kerri and Michael Jones all of Mankato, MN; and Avery Tate and Kiersten of Wichita Falls, TX; a brother, Fredrick Bud and his wife June Jones ofWorthington, MN; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Jones of Slayton, MN; many other relatives and friends. Preceeding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Melvin Jones and Calvin Jones; and three sisters, Inez Follett, Irene Wickstrom and Iva Jenkins.
