Alvin A. Fast of Loganville, GA, formerly of Mountain Lake, MN, died on January 19, 2018, at Southern Plantation Assisted Living, in Loganville, GA. Service will be held at the First Mennonite Church-Butterfield, on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:00 pm - visitation one hour prior at the church. The clergy will be Pastor Jonathan L'Hoste. Interment will be at the First Mennonite Cemetery in Butterfield, MN. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mtn. Lake, Minnesota. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Alvin Alfred Fast, age 97, was born April 17, 1920 on a farm near Frazer, MT. He went to be with the Lord January 19, 2018 in Loganville, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife Olga: his father and mother, Abraham and Agatha Fast; his brothers Arthur, Fernando, and Leslie; his sisters Alma, Adella, and Adeline and his first-born son, Larry Gene. He is survived by his brothers Arnold, Sam, Harry, Herbert and Arlie; his sisters Frances Becker, Lila Neufeld, and Alice Bruesehoff; his children: Leroy Dan Fast (Judy) of Houston, Leland Fast (Donna) of Atlanta, Lynnea Wise (Landrum) of Houston, Loren Fast (Dora) of Cotulla, TX, Lowell Fast (Sandy) of Atlanta; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Alvin and Olga served in a church in Madrid, NE before God called them to the mission field. They served faithfully as missionaries in Cuba for 15 years, in Venezuela for 25 years and finally in Hialeah, FL for 15 years in church planting and prison ministry. They retired in 2001 to Dowling Park, FL. In lieu of flowers, the children have requested that memorials be sent to United World Mission, 205 Regency Executive Park Dr, Ste 430, Charlotte, NC 28217; First Mennonite Church of Butterfield or your local churchs outreach ministry.
