Alva Arnsdorf

Alva Marion Arnsdorf was born on March 19, 1926 to Otto and Tilda (Meyer) Jensen in Sundown Township in Redwood County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Sundown Lutheran Church. Alva worked in Minneapolis and returned to Springfield to care for her mother. On August 25, 1950 Alva married the love of her life David Arnsdorf at Sundown Lutheran Church. David and Alva farmed until 1968 when they moved to Springfield. Alva also worked as a nurse at the Springfield Community Hospital and continued after their retirement from farming. One of Alva's greatest gifts was hospitality. She enjoyed entertaining family, friends and relatives through her love of cooking and baking. She had a creative nature and enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts. She especially loved any time she could spend with her grandchildren. Alva Arnsdorf died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Bethesda Pleasantview Manor in Willmar at the age of 85. Alva is survived by her four children - Bradley (Colleen) Arnsdorf of Goshen, IN, Charlene Arnsdorf of Willmar, MN, Brian (Kerrina) Arnsdorf of Cokato, MN and Diane (Richard) Cordes of Glenwood, MN; her special care giver - Carol Berry; grandchildren - David (fiancee Kelly), Jaime (Ken), Kali, Kiefer, and Emily; great grandchildren Jude and Kaiden; brother - Warren (Greta) Jensen of Springfield; sister-in-laws - Dorraine Nauman of Columbia Heights, MN and Donna Arnsdorf of New Ulm. Alva is preceded in death by her parents - Otto and Tilda (Meyer) Jensen; husband - David in May of 2009; brother - Gorden (Bonnie) Jensen; brothers-in-law - Conrad Nauman and Harlen and Floyd Arnsdorf.
