Aloysius Mathiowetz

Aloysius "Aloy" Henry Mathiowetz was born on December 21, 1921 on the family farm in Eden Township, Brown County, MN the son of John D. and Agnes (Kainx) Mathiowetz. He attended country school, District 79 and then St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. After his schooling he farmed with his father. Aloy married Leona Rose Schweiss on May 7, 1947 at St. Willibord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. They made their home on the family farm north of Sleepy Eye. They retired from farming in the late 1980's. Aloy also worked at Pietrus Produce in Sleepy Eye as a night watchman for about ten years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the KC's and past board member of Eden Township. He enjoyed reading and watching TV, especially wrestling. Survivors include his children, Cletus (Donna) Mathiowetz of Prior Lake, Eugene (Laura) Mathiowetz of Huntington Beach, CA and Marlin Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye, granddaughter, Colleen (Jason) McDonald of Shakopee, sibling, Leona (Gene) Eustice of Waseca, sisters-in-law, Mildred Mathiowetz of Morgan and Bernadine Mathiowetz of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Tom, Othmar, Benedict, and Aloy's wife Leona in 2008.
