A private graveside service was held at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:00 am. The clergy was Pastor Merwin Dick. A Celebration of Life for Almada's friends and family will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mtn. Lake, Minnesota. Almada Peters Quiring, the daughter of Herman P. and Elizabeth (Baer) Peters was born on March 28, 1918 on a farm outside of Mt. Lake. She received her education first, in Bingham Lake, and later when family moved to Jackson County at a country school near her home. Then the family moved to Mt. Lake and she finished her schooling in Mt. Lake. At about 10 years old, Almada started working for other families; babysitting, house work etc. She would often stay with these families during the week and come home on the weekends. She did this during the summer months. Almada completed school through the 7th grade and then she worked for other families year around and stayed with them in their homes. Almada was baptized upon confession of her faith at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Mountain Lake. On September 23,1936 Almada was united in Marriage to Edward Quiring. They were married over 72 years. Knowing that God was leading them they joined the Bergfelder Mennonite church which became the Gospel Mennonite church and now the Lakeview Gospel church. Almada was a housewife and mother to Kenneth, born on October 5, 1939; Robert, born on November 30,1943; James, born on March 16,1951 and Patricia, born on January 8, 1953. Her family and faith were very important to her. Ed and she brought the children up in a Christian home. As the children left and had families of their own, they always made a point of coming home for the holidays and vacations, since Almada was a great cook, she always had the kid's favorites and so much more. In 1965, when Jim and Pat were still at home, Almada started to work at Rexall drug store and later Peterson Drug store. After retiring from Peterson drug store, she organized the work force for the Care and Share. She was very active in her church. She sang in the ladies and mixed choir; she was a part of the Ladies Mission Society and served on the food committee. God gave her the gift of hospitality, where she served the Lord gladly. Almada's favorite Bible verse was John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. She was a devoted Christian and lived her life honoring God. She was a loving and caring wife and mother to Ed and the children. In October of 2018 Almada moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Mt. Lake. This is where she passed away on May 23, 2021. Almada's family rejoices that she is in heaven now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is reunited with her husband Ed and her two oldest sons, Ken and Bob. Almada is survived by her son, James (Carla) Quiring and their child, Tamera; daughter, Patricia (Russ) Dorris; daughter-in-law, Susan Quiring and her son Kevin (Ann) Quiring and their children Grace and Ellie, Amy Masse and her children Christian and Genevieve; daughter-in-law, Leslee Quiring and children Troy (Jody) Quiring and their children Keely and Aleya; Todd (Esther) Quiring; Blake (Angela) and daughter Elizabeth; sister, Elma Wolf; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Peter and Dolores Peters and many nephews and nieces.
