Alma 'Maxine' Skow

Alma "Maxine" Skow was born on February 6, 1921 in Lismore, MN to John and Mable Louise (VanRossum) Gustafson. She graduated from Heron Lake High School. Maxine then worked in Fairmont, MN and in 1940 she was employed as an operator for a telephone company. On December 16, 1942, she was united in marriage to Dale Skow and she lived throughout the United States as a Navy wife for 22 years while raising 3 children. The couple eventually settled in Mankato where Maxine was a receptionist at Honeymead for 18 years. She has been a resident of Valley View Manor for 15 years. Maxine loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She accepted Christ as her Savior through a Billy Graham Crusade. Her hobbies included traveling, taking care of her home, going to auctions, antiques, and Scrabble. Maxine tried to instill good values and the love of Christ in her children and she was a good role model. Maxine Skow died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 97. She is survived by her son Dale D. Skow of Lamberton; daughter Anita Runck and husband Leonard of Lamberton; grandchildren- Bryan (Jennifer) Runck of Plymouth, Andrew (Carolyn) Runck of China, Matthew (Sara) Runck of Worthington, Nathan Runck of St. Paul, Tanya Tringali of New Orleans, LA, and Cindy Skow of Virginia; great-grandchildren- Ana Rosie Runck of Worthington, Gabriella Speilberg of New Orleans, and Serena, Nicholas and Mark Utech of Virginia;; sister Monetta Osland of Rapidan; and brother David Grube of Deming, NM. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Dale E. Skow; son Lon C. Skow; and brothers- Homer Gustafson, Donald Grube, Victor Grube, and Lowell Gustafson.
